The Start of Something Wild

My husband and I got married on June 2, 2013. We are practically old timers now! I couldn't even begin to explain how thankful I am for him, he is definitely my biggest blessing! Marriage has taught us so much about life, and love and family. Together we have learned how to make better decisions and plan for our future with more assurance, knowing that we will always have the support we need. I just love being married, it's great.
Zach and I went through quite a bit of pre-marriage counseling before we tied the knot, and it really helped prepare us for the changes that come with getting married. It also got us asking A LOT of questions. Questions about what we believe in, and what our family going to look like, and what kind of careers do we want to support our family. It was all so exciting because the possibilities are endless really.
And since the possibilities were so numerous there was only one thing to do about it. We prayed! And it's funny, because every time I have desired something I assume that I won't get it because I never want to get my hopes up, but God blessed me with some incredibly good answers that made me quite happy.
Zach and I are earnestly pursuing our goals now! Zach is going back to school next year and he has already started job shadowing to put him in a better position to get accepted into a program at PCC. My man is going back to school! It's a little bit scary because this is all very new. The entire time I have even known Zach he has worked at Les Schwab, so this is going to be very different! I keep telling myself that this will only be a few years of schooling and it will pay off in big ways.
Another thing we have decided is that we want to start making our family a little bigger! Our little family started a few days before Valentines day '13 when Zach surprised me with the fluffiest little ball of fluff that there ever was. We named him Reggie. He is the best dog an owner could ask for! This time instead of growing by a little puppy, who is actually 70 pounds now, we want to add a little baby(or big, I guess I don't care!) Although we don't know exactly when this will happen, I am over-joyed that it is in our foreseeable future!
I always thought that I wouldn't want kids until I was at least 27, but God changed my heart. I've thought about it a lot, and I've come up with several reasons why it is better (for me) to have babies sooner rather than later!
One thing that I always wished I had growing up was grandparents I could spend time with. I never had that for a couple reasons, and let me tell you, our kids will have not just 4, but 7 incredible and wonderful grandparents! I want my kids to grow up with them for as long as possible!
I want to keep up with my kids!I'd rather face those sleepless nights at a time when I don't need as much sleep!
Most importantly though, I believe that the bible is right when it says that having children is a blessing. I mean, I could always use some more blessings! In all seriousness though, raising children is the most important job you could do, undoubtedly. I've seen so many women be transformed by the responsibility of raising a child. It is pretty inspiring. I really want to love my son or daughter and raise him/her to be a kind, and genuine person. I realize it is no easy task, and it is one I do not take lightly. Zach and I have had many conversations about how we want to parent and how to make decisions as parents, not just individuals. This probably sounds really silly to those of you who are already blessed with children, I'm sure you are thinking, "Oh you just wait!" I only have a tiny clue of what to expect of parenthood, but by golly,we want to do our best to prepare ourselves!
Zach and I have an army of support when it comes to parenthood. There are many who have gone before us in our family in creating babies, and we are excited for good advise, hand-me-downs, and experienced baby sitters! We are so lucky!
Of course, I know I am getting ahead of myself, because it is up to God's timing on when baby Gilbert will bless us with his/her presence. However, you can't blame a girl for getting excited!
In the meantime, I have two new babies coming into our family that I am excited about. Wesley Boone, I can't wait to meet you! We are waiting for the tiny bundle of joy that Mollie is going to deliver (at any minute now!) Carson Blaine will be here in a few weeks, and I am so very excited to see my cousin Samantha become a mommy! I'm a very busy auntie, but I love it. It's exciting to think that these aren't just my nephews and nieces, they will be our babies cousins! And we all know how awesome cousins are!
